I simply do not have the words to express my gratitude to the staff at SkipChips. In an era when superb service is hard to find, SkipChips has rewritten the book.
Last June, my wife and I bought a black 2013 Corvette Grand Sport convertible from Village Chevrolet in Wayzata. We wanted to protect the new paint from the ever-present onslaught of road debris. Nearly all of the Corvette’s front fascia is painted, and I didn’t want to make a second career out of touching up chips.
We choose a SkipChips package that included covering all of the front fascia, the forward half of the hood and fenders as well as the outside mirrors and door edges. The film was applied very well. The ‘edge’ on the hood – where the film stopped – was barely visible; the same was true on the fenders. A casual observer would never know it was there – truly invisible protection.
A few days ago, I was on my knees detailing the car. (Corvettes will do that to you.) At that low angle I noticed some subtle imperfections in the clear film. I wash and detail this car often and had not seen them before. Only the low angle and harsh fluorescent lights made them visible at all – they were that subtle, even on a black car. Ever the worrier (Corvettes will also do that to you), I wondered if these tiny flaws had recently appeared, indicating a possible film failure.
Recalling the ten-year warranty, I called SkipChips, and they invited me to stop by for an assessment. Remember, my only concern was a possible film failure, the minute flaws were not a big issue for me. After a close look, the staff assured me that the film was fine, but they felt the installation could be done without flaws. They decided then and there to do the entire job over – at absolutely no cost to me. I was deeply impressed.
Thursday, October 11, I dropped the Corvette off at 8:45 am. SkipChips would call me when the car was done, probably later that afternoon. I got the call at about 3:30 and was delighted to hear that it had turned out beautifully. The new film is gorgeous and flawless! I’m still stunned at my good fortune – talk about my lucky day! Not only did SkipChips cheerfully replace the original film (and I wasn’t even asking for that), there was no cost to me! It just does not get any better than that.
Thanks again, SkipChips – you are beyond the best!
